Red Chillies Idiot Box's 26-part Original TV series ‘Ye Parindey’ for Channel V is a fictionalized look at the lives of God's 'lesser' children. Inspired by real stories and backed up by intensive research, each episode delves into and exposes the lives of these children, their fears and travails, their dreams and hopes. The series begins with the entry of a new boy, a 14-year-old pickpocket by the name of Jackie Firangi. Brought up in the streets of Dharavi, Jackie earned his name because of his fascination with Jackie Chan and his inexplicable blonde hair. Some say he was the son of a Russian tourist who fell in love with a local taxi driver and was then murdered, leaving Jackie to the streets. But while there are many myths surrounding his background, the only truth is that Jackie was left to fend for himself from the age of two. Today, a refined pickpocket, he is on the priority watch-list of the local police.

Having finally nabbed him, they decide to keep him in the absolute secure confines of the Children's home. Jackie’s reputation precedes him and some children in the home were already wary of him. On the other hand, some of the kids were in awe of his 'legend' and considered him their hero. He was their hope. He was known to have gotten out of many situations and this time, he was their ticket to an escape from the remand home. As the series kicks off, with a plan to escape from the remand home, the boys come together to make it a smooth one out. As the course of their plan takes shape, friendships and bonds are formed amongst these kids. Situations teach them about teamwork and the smaller details of caring for another human being and finding comfort in friendship. The boys confront emotions that they never knew existed and discover meanings to their lives that they never thought possible!

So while they plan their escape, unknowing to themselves, the Children’s Remand Home, starts becoming their home and the boys become family for each other. People with myriad stories and colourful characters, laced with wry wit and the absurd humour of survival, 'Ye Parindey' is the compelling never-before-told drama of hope and innocence, a story of making the best of what life has to offer and sometimes even that can be enough for you to reach out for the stars!
